Photo calorie tracker: snap your plate, your coach counts it

Take a photo of your meal. AGUNA finds each food, works out the portion, and writes down the calories, protein, carbs and fat for you.

Counting calories usually means typing every food into a search box, guessing the grams, and giving up by Thursday. AGUNA's photo calorie tracker takes that job off you. You take a photo of your plate. Your coach counts it.

The short version

Snap your plate. AGUNA finds each food, works out the portion, and your coach writes down the calories, protein, carbs and fat. One tap logs it. No searching, no weighing, no typing.

How it works, step by step

  1. Snap a meal. On your Today card, or on any meal in your plan, tap the camera and take a photo of the plate.
  2. The scanner reads it. A beam of light sweeps the photo while it finds the foods, measures the portion and counts the calories. You hear it work.
  3. Each food gets boxed. The scanner locks on to every food it found, right where it sits on the plate.
  4. Your coach writes it down. Each food and its calories go on a notepad, line by line, then the total, circled.
  5. Your plate card. The photo comes back with every food pinned on it, the dish name and the calories, protein, carbs and fat. Tap a food to see its own numbers.
  6. Pick the portion and log it. Half, normal, one and a half or double. You see where today lands before you tap Log it.
  7. Your sticker. Your coach makes a sticker of the meal. Pull it apart to see the layers, or copy it into a story.

Why a photo beats typing it in

Food from anywhere

The tracker reads what is on the plate, wherever you are. AGUNA's meal plans come from 15 regional menus covering every country in the world: West African, East African, Southern African, British and Irish, European, American, Canadian, Caribbean, Latin American, Middle Eastern and North African, Indian and South Asian, Southeast and East Asian, and Australian and New Zealand, plus a mix of everything.

Made for gym introverts

AGUNA is an AI gym workout planner for people who would rather not be noticed at the gym. It plans today's workout, today's weights and today's food. The photo calorie tracker closes the loop: you train what it planned, you eat, you snap the plate, and the day adds up on its own.

Frequently asked

How does the AGUNA photo calorie tracker work?

Tap Snap a meal and take a photo of your plate. A scanner sweeps the photo, finds each food, and works out the portion. Your coach then writes each food and its calories on a notepad, with the total. You see the plate with every food pinned where it sits, pick how much you had, and one tap logs it.

How accurate is counting calories from a photo?

It is an estimate, like any photo calorie counter. It is closest when the whole plate is in the picture and the foods are not hidden under a sauce. If the meal is one from your AGUNA meal plan, it uses the plan's own numbers. You can always pick half, normal, one and a half or double before you log it. It is not medical advice.

Does it work with food from my country?

Yes. It reads whatever is on the plate, from a yogurt bowl or a salad to rice and stew, pasta or a curry. AGUNA's meal plans come from 15 regional menus and cover every country in the world, and the photo tracker works with or without the plan.

Is my food photo saved?

The photo is sent once to be read and is not saved to your account. A small copy stays on your phone only, so your log can show the plate.

Do I have to type anything in?

No. There is no searching a database and no weighing food. Snap the plate, check the portion, and tap Log it.

What do I get after I log a meal?

Your coach turns the meal into a round sticker of your plate. Pull it apart to see each food as its own layer, or copy the sticker and paste it into a story. The day's calories, protein, carbs and fat update on your Today card.

Which phones does it work on?

iPhone. AGUNA is on the App Store.

Calorie and macro numbers from a photo are estimates, not medical advice. If you have a medical condition that depends on what you eat, follow your doctor or dietitian.
